Salt the ICE is a stained glass protest piece that uses visual metaphor to make its stance unmistakably clear. The design features a vintage-style salt shaker tipped toward a melting ice cube—an intentional statement against ICE and the harm caused by systems of detention and deportation.
The details on the ice cube are hand painted, giving each piece subtle variation and a deliberately human touch. The word “SALT” is applied in permanent vinyl, clean, bold, and unapologetic. A chain connects the salt shaker to the ice below, ending in red glass “blood gems”—a visual reminder that these policies carry real human cost.
The piece measures approximately 8 inches long, including the blood gem detail, and is finished with a loop for hanging in a window or on a wall.
This is protest art. It is not neutral.
Handmade, symbolic, and meant to be seen.
This piece is crafted entirely by hand. Minor variations in texture, solder lines, and glass character are intentional and contribute to the uniqueness of the work.
